Clinics & Services

Antenatal & Postnatal Care

pregnant_stomachAs soon as you know you are pregnant please make an appointment to see a Doctor who will then arrange antenatal care with you.

The Community Midwives and Doctors provide a shared care system for antenatal and postnatal care, both for mother and baby at the Surgery and at home. Our Community Midwife is based at Luton & Dunstable Hospital and can be contacted via the switchboard on 01582 49 11 66

From end of November the midwife will be running clinics at our surgery from 8.30am to 4pm every Monday 01582 866161

Following delivery the Midwife cares for you for ten days, after which our Health Visitors will take over your routine care.

Anti-Coagulation (Warfarin) Clinic

The Surgery runs an Anti-Coagulation Clinic every Thursday morning for patients taking Warfarin with the support of Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

Once patients have had their dosing stabilised by the hospital, they can attend the Surgery, which many find more convenient. We can test the blood at the Surgery and then use a sophisticated computer programme to advise on dosing based on the results obtained.

Blood Tests

Child_immunisationOur Phlebotomists will take blood samples for tests to be done. Children under sixteen have to have their blood taken by a Doctor or at the Hospital Clinic.

Blood samples can be taken on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and Thursday afternoons. They are then taken by courier to the Hospital Laboratories for analysis.

For results please telephone after allowing a week from the time the time the test was carried out.

Cervical Screening

Cervical screening significantly reduces the risk of developing cervical cancer. It is offered by the NHS to all patients between the ages of 24.5 and 64 and involves having a cervical smear which can be taken by our Practice Nurses. You can obtain the results by telephoning the Surgery 4-5 weeks after your smear test.

Coil Fitting

Dr Jinmi fits coils at the Surgery. You will need to make an initial appointment to discuss things with her and then a further double appointment for the actual fitting.

Counselling is available for short-term conditions including those related to stress, bereavement and relationship difficulties. Counselling is provided by a Counselling Service comission by the CCG. You will need to obtain a referral from a doctor at the surgery and then fill in an opt-in form.  Please be advised that no appointments will be made until the Opt-In form has been completed and returned.
