The Practice had a Patient Participation Group (PPG) which was set up in 2005 and when the building had been bought with the view of modernising and bringing it into the 21st Century and the views of the members of the PPG were greatly valued to ensure that we were able to take into account their needs within the constraints of the Building and the architect plans as well as the permitted planning permission from Central Beds Council.
Times have moved on and the DoH is encouraging that the Practice's patients have a greater involvement in the decisions about the range and quality of the services provided and, in due course, commissioned by the Practice.
We are still hoping to have more of our patients signing up to be members of the Reference Group, WE NEED YOU to have a say in the Service Provision and help us make the right commissioning choices in due course. We are thinking of either replacing the current group with a virtual group, i.e. discussion via e-mails, or to have a virtual group as an additional resource for patient opinion. So that patients whose commitments prevent them attending the meetings can still participate and have their voice heard.
